Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Cedar Theory LLC (“Cedar Theory,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in the Mahjong Trainer Android app, package com.cedar.mahjongtrainer (the “App”), and on its legal and support website.
Mahjong Trainer is an educational American Mahjong trainer. The information we handle depends on whether you use local learning features, enable reminders, make a Google Play purchase, visit this website, or email support.
Information stored locally on your device
The App stores information locally to provide lessons, practice, progress, and preferences without requiring an account. Local data may include:
- onboarding selections, learning-path choices, and completed steps;
- lesson and practice activity, answers, progress, XP, streaks, and related learning state;
- settings such as sound, haptics, reminder choices, and reminder time;
- locally scheduled notification information; and
- a locally cached subscription entitlement or purchase status used to provide premium access, including during a temporary connection or Google Play interruption.
Cedar Theory does not operate an App account or cloud learning profile and does not receive your lesson answers or learning history. Other people with access to your unlocked device or device backups may be able to access locally stored data, depending on Android and your backup settings.
Android permissions and network access
Notification permission
If you choose a local practice reminder, the App may request Android notification permission. If allowed, Android displays the locally scheduled reminder. You can decline the permission or disable notifications in Android Settings. The reminder does not require Cedar Theory to send a remote message.
Device reboot events
The App may receive Android’s device-boot or reboot-completed event to restore a local reminder you previously configured. Receiving that event is used only to reschedule the reminder; it is not used to identify you, monitor device activity, or send data to Cedar Theory.
Network access
The App uses network access to request Google Play product details, start and acknowledge purchases, verify and restore subscription access, and obtain current purchase status. Network access may also be used when you choose to open an external legal, support, or Google Play subscription-management page.
The App does not request access to precise location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health data, or the Android advertising identifier for App functionality.
Google Play Billing information
Android purchases are processed by Google through Google Play Billing. The App offers the subscription product IDs mahjongtrainer.subscriptions.monthly and mahjongtrainer.subscriptions.annual.
To display and provide subscriptions, the App exchanges limited product and transaction information with Google Play. The App may receive or process:
- product identifiers, plan and offer identifiers, localized price and currency, billing period, and offer eligibility or availability reported by Google Play;
- purchase tokens and order or transaction references made available by Google Play;
- purchase time, acknowledgment state, auto-renewal state, and whether a purchase is pending, active, canceled, expired, paused, refunded, revoked, or otherwise unavailable; and
- information needed to confirm entitlement, acknowledge a purchase, restore access, or apply a plan replacement.
A purchase token is a unique value associated with a Google Play purchase and is used for purchase processing and entitlement verification. Cedar Theory does not receive your full payment card number, bank-account credentials, or Google password.
Google independently processes information such as your Google Account, payment method, transaction history, device and technical information, region, tax information, fraud signals, and subscription status under Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Play terms.
Support emails
If you email support, Cedar Theory receives your email address, name if provided, message, and any app version, device details, screenshots, diagnostics, purchase information, or other information you choose to include. We use it to answer you, troubleshoot, handle privacy requests, prevent abuse, and keep appropriate support and business records.
The support-page form prepares an email in your own email app. The website does not receive or submit the form contents. Your email provider processes the message under its own terms. Do not send passwords, full payment card numbers, or information you do not want included in a support record.
Website hosting logs
When you visit the legal or support website, the hosting and network providers that deliver it may automatically process standard request and security logs. These may include your IP address, browser and device type, requested page, referring page, request date and time, response status, and similar technical information.
Such logs are used to deliver the website, maintain reliability and security, diagnose problems, and prevent abuse. Cedar Theory does not use the website for advertising or behavioral tracking and does not intentionally place analytics or advertising cookies. Hosting providers may retain logs under their own operational and legal requirements.
Retention and deletion
Local App data
Local learning data and settings remain on your device until the App or Android removes them, you clear the App’s storage, or you uninstall the App. Uninstalling generally deletes the App’s local data, subject to Android backup, restore, device-management, and deletion behavior outside Cedar Theory’s control. Because Cedar Theory does not receive local learning history, we cannot access or delete it remotely.
Google Play records
Google retains purchase and subscription records according to its policies and legal obligations. A locally cached entitlement remains until refreshed, cleared, or removed with App data. Cedar Theory retains no separate cloud learning profile linked to a purchase token. Any limited billing records Cedar Theory receives or must maintain are kept only as long as reasonably needed for entitlement support, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
Support and website records
Support emails are kept for as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request, maintain business records, prevent abuse, establish or defend legal claims, and meet legal obligations, then deleted or de-identified when no longer needed. Hosting providers retain technical logs according to their security, operational, and legal schedules.
You may request deletion of support information by contacting us. We may retain information that applicable law requires or permits us to keep, and deletion by Cedar Theory does not delete copies held independently by Google, your email provider, or website infrastructure providers.
Children’s privacy
Mahjong Trainer is a general-audience educational app and is not directed to children under 13. Cedar Theory does not knowingly collect personal information from children through an App account, because the App has no accounts and learning data stays local.
If you believe a child has sent personal information to Cedar Theory, contact us. We will review the request and delete the information where required. Google Play and a child’s Google Account may be subject to Google’s family and age-related settings and policies.
Your choices and privacy rights
You can:
- decline or disable notifications and change App permissions in Android Settings;
- change or remove local reminder settings in the App;
- clear local App storage or uninstall the App to remove local data, subject to Android backup behavior;
- manage subscriptions and Google Play information in your Google account;
- ask Cedar Theory to access, correct, or delete personal information contained in support records; and
- object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or lodge a complaint with an applicable privacy regulator, where local law provides those rights.
Rights vary by location. We will respond to verifiable requests as applicable law requires. We may ask for information needed to understand, verify, and respond to a request. We cannot retrieve local-only learning data from your device, and Cedar Theory cannot directly delete or alter Google’s independent records.
We do not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits, subject to verification of the agent’s authority.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the limited information we handle. Keeping learning data local reduces transmission to Cedar Theory, but no device, storage system, email, network, or website is completely secure. Protect your device and Google account with current software, access controls, and a strong password.
International processing
Cedar Theory and service providers such as Google, email providers, and website-hosting providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Privacy laws in those locations may differ. Where required, appropriate legal protections apply to cross-border processing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App, Google Play functionality, our practices, or legal requirements. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. We will provide additional notice or request consent where required by law.
