Agreement to these terms
These Android Terms of Use (“Terms”) form an agreement between you and Cedar Theory LLC (“Cedar Theory,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and apply when you download, access, purchase through, or use the Mahjong Trainer Android app, package com.cedar.mahjongtrainer (the “App”).
By using the App, you accept these Terms, the Android EULA, and the Android Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App. Google Play’s applicable terms also govern your relationship with Google.
The service
Mahjong Trainer is an educational American Mahjong trainer. It provides lessons, practice activities, progress features, and optional local reminders. No account is required. Some content or features may require an active Google Play subscription.
We may improve, correct, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features. We do not guarantee that every feature or item of content will remain available.
Google Play subscriptions
The App may offer these auto-renewing subscriptions:
- Monthly: mahjongtrainer.subscriptions.monthly
- Annual: mahjongtrainer.subscriptions.annual
Each plan may unlock premium App content and features for its billing period. Before you confirm a purchase, Google Play shows the plan, localized price, currency, taxes where applicable, billing period, renewal terms, and any offer for which Google Play determines you are eligible. Those purchase-screen terms are part of your transaction.
Monthly trial eligibility
The monthly plan may display a 7-day trial only when Google Play confirms that your account is eligible. A trial is not promised and may be unavailable based on your account, region, or prior subscription or offer history. If Google Play grants the trial, it converts to a paid monthly subscription at the displayed price unless you cancel before the trial ends.
Annual offers
The annual plan has no trial unless Google Play expressly reports and displays one for your account before purchase. Any displayed annual trial or introductory offer is governed by its Google Play purchase-screen terms.
Purchase, payment, and automatic renewal
All Android purchases are made through Google Play Billing. Payment is charged by Google to the payment method associated with your Google Play account when you confirm the purchase or, for an eligible trial, when the trial converts as disclosed by Google Play. Cedar Theory does not receive your full payment card details.
A subscription automatically renews for another period of the same duration unless you cancel before the end of the current billing period. Google charges the then-disclosed renewal price and applicable taxes according to Google Play’s terms. Google may provide notices of price changes and may require your consent where applicable. If required consent is not given, the subscription may expire.
If Google cannot collect payment, Google may retry billing or provide a grace period or account hold. Premium access may continue, pause, or end based on the subscription status Google Play reports to the App.
Cancellation, expiration, and restore
You can manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play’s subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect according to Google Play’s displayed terms, normally at the end of the current paid billing period. You generally retain premium access until then. Deleting the App, clearing its data, or stopping use does not cancel a subscription.
You may use the App’s restore or purchase-sync feature while signed in to the Google Play account that made the purchase. Restoration requires Google Play to report an active or otherwise eligible entitlement. Cedar Theory cannot restore a purchase tied to a different Google account or override the status returned by Google Play.
Premium access may end when a subscription expires, is canceled at period end, refunded, revoked, charged back, paused, or no longer reported as active by Google Play.
Refunds and billing disputes
Google processes Android payments and controls refund decisions under Google Play’s refund policies and applicable law. Request a refund or report an unauthorized purchase through Google Play. Cedar Theory cannot issue a Google Play refund directly or guarantee that Google will approve one.
If Google grants a refund, reverses a transaction, or revokes a purchase, the related premium access may end immediately. Nothing in these Terms limits refund, withdrawal, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changing or replacing a plan
If the App offers a change between the monthly and annual plans, Google Play determines whether the change is permitted and how its effective date, credits, charges, proration, remaining time, and renewal date are handled. The confirmation screen presented by Google Play controls the specific replacement transaction.
Depending on Google Play’s available replacement mode, a new plan may begin immediately, after the current plan ends, or on another date shown before confirmation. Do not assume that buying another plan automatically cancels or credits an existing subscription; review the Google Play confirmation carefully.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the App for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or infringing activity;
- copy, sell, redistribute, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App or its content except as expressly permitted;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to obtain source code except where applicable law expressly permits;
- bypass subscription verification, access controls, technical limits, or security measures;
- interfere with the App, Google Play Billing, a third-party service, or another person’s use; or
- introduce malicious code or use automated methods to extract App content in bulk.
Educational-content disclaimer
Mahjong Trainer is an educational practice aid, not an official rules authority. American Mahjong rules, card interpretations, strategies, table conventions, and tournament rulings may vary by organization, publication, card year, location, or organizer. Content may contain errors or become outdated.
You are responsible for checking the current official rules that apply to your game. We do not guarantee improved performance, winnings, tournament results, or agreement with any particular organizer. The App is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or any mahjong league or rules publisher unless expressly stated.
Intellectual property and feedback
The App, including its software, interface, lessons, exercises, text, graphics, audiovisual material, and branding, is owned by Cedar Theory or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Your limited right to use the App is defined by the Android EULA. No other right or ownership interest is transferred to you.
If you voluntarily provide ideas or feedback, you grant Cedar Theory a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use and incorporate them without compensation or obligation, without overriding privacy rights that apply to your communication.
Availability and warranty disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without express, implied, or statutory warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not promise that local data will never be lost or that the App will work with every device or Android version.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions. This section applies only to the extent lawful and does not affect mandatory consumer rights.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cedar Theory and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, licensors, and suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or lost data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or opportunities, arising from the App, a subscription, or inability to use the App.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cedar Theory’s aggregate liability arising from or related to the App or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for App subscriptions during the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability or US $25. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate your right to use the App if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the App, or create a legal or security risk. Where reasonable, we may first provide notice and an opportunity to correct the breach.
Termination does not automatically cancel your Google Play subscription; cancellation must be completed through Google Play. Accrued payment obligations and provisions that should survive—including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, and transaction terms—remain effective.
Changes to the App or these Terms
We may revise these Terms to reflect changes to the App, Google Play functionality, subscriptions, business practices, or law. We will post revised Terms here and update the effective date. We will provide additional notice or seek consent where required.
Your continued use after revised Terms become effective means you accept them to the extent permitted by law. If you do not accept a revision, stop using the App and separately cancel any subscription through Google Play.
